From the get go, Granite Properties has planned for a full-service hotel at Granite Park, its 1 million-square-foot complex at State Highway 121 and the Dallas North Tollway. The timing just hasn’t been right. Until now.
Granite has struck a deal with Hilton Hotels & Resorts to flag and manage a 293-room conference hotel. Construction will get under way in the spring of 2013, with delivery slated for the summer of 2014.
The project also will feature 32,000 square feet of conference room space—which is much-needed in the market, said Greg Fuller, chief operating officer of Granite Properties, in a statement.
“This is truly a best-case scenario for Granite Park and the City of Plano,” he said. Although “some operators excel in resort properties and others in convention centers, we have the best business conference hotelier in Hilton. That’s exactly what is needed now in this location.”
Granite says market studies helped determine the size and design of the new hotel. The report found a shortage of full-service hotel rooms and conference space for current and future demand.
At full buildout, Granite Park is projected to top 2.5 million square feet of office, retail, and hotel space. Amenities within the park include Blue Mesa, Campisi’s, Social 121, The Original Pancake House, and other restaurants.
