KDC is developing two data centers totaling 244,000 square feet at Digital Realty’s Richardson campus. Construction has begun on the two facilities, at 850 and 950 E. Collins Boulevard. Both are scheduled for delivery by the end of 2012.
Digital Realty plans to install its “Turn-Key Flex” solution once the facilities are developed. Upon completion, the San Francisco-based operator will contain the largest amount of ground-up, wholesale data center space in Texas.
“Digital Realty has been on a rapid pace of development ever since locating its 69-acre site in Richardson’s Telecom Corridor area,” said Richardson Mayor Bob Townsend, in a statement. “When it first opened two years ago, the site was already one of the largest data parks in the southwest. Today, Digital Realty’s growth in Richardson is part of a boom we are seeing by cloud computing companies that are looking to access our high-speed data transmission lines and highly educated workforce, and we couldn’t ask for a better partner in our community to be the leader of that growth.”
KDC and Digital Realty formed an alliance in December 2009. To date, KDC has developed seven data centers, totaling 790,000 square feet, either completed or under construction, for Digital Realty.
