Stemmons Award winner Susan Gwin Burks has joined CASE Commercial Real Estate Partners as senior director. She’ll focus on raising capital for acquisitions, as well as handling the sale of office and industrial properties. She previously was an executive director in the capital markets group at Cushman & Wakefield.
Burks brings more than 30 years of experience to her new post. She’ll work with CASE’s Jim Eagle, principal and managing director of acquisition and development. He said Burks’ “relationships, market knowledge, and superior reputation among her peers was a driving catalyst in CASE’s pursuit of her as a leader in our company.”
In addition to C&W, other professional experience includes serving as managing partner for Terry Gwin & Associates, portfolio account management at CBRE, and specializing in investment sales representing national clients at The Staubach Co.
Burks is well known in the Dallas commercial real estate community. Along with being one of only two women winners of NTCAR’s prestigious Stemmons Service Award, she has also been honored with the Easterwood Cup (outstanding Realtor of the Year, presented by the MetroTex Association of Realtors) and received an Outstanding Achievement Award from Commercial Real Estate Women. She is involved with numerous organizations and has served on a number of industry and civic boards.
Eagle said the addition of Burks puts CASE in a solid position to put together partnerships and go after commercial real estate buys, especially value investment opportunities.
“As our economy turns around, the real estate capital markets seem poised to refocus on commercial real estate investment as a preferred asset,” he said.
CASE was formed by John Conger and Tom Sutherland in 2008 after acquiring GVA Cawley. It was one of three firms profiled in a 2012 D CEO feature. The firm made another big move earlier this month when it merged with The John Bowles Co.
